Researchers at the University of Michigan – eggheads, if you will – have developed a new colour filter that could potentially improve sceen efficiency by as much as 400%. What does that mean in practical terms? Current LCDs only emit around 8% of the light produced by their backlighting systems, but with this new tech, they’re looking at 36%.

Prepare the Popcorn! - Oblivion The Movie In the Works? |
I love the movie adaptation of Mortal Kombat. Not Mortal Kombat: Annihilation mind you (that was a real stinker!), but the original '95 flick from Paul W.S. Anderson definitely ranks amongst my favourite films. It's my dirty little secret. Sure it's no Citizen Kane, but it's the closest a Hollywood production has ever come to transferring that magic from pixels to celluloid.
Now GameSpot has brought to light that ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda, have registered a trademark for a feature film adaptation of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Bert and Ernie. Abbot and Costello. C-3PO and R2-D2. History has played host to countless memorable duos. Timeless and unforgettable.
... And yet they are all set to be upstaged by a pair of mute, nameless, robotic drones!
This extended trailer for Portal 2 shown behind closed doors at PAX 2010 will make you cry, it'll make you laugh, but most of all it'd make you froth with anticipation.

Sitrep: PAX 2010’s First-Person Shooters |
For FPS heads, this year’s PAX Prime expo has been about the finer details of looming and present releases. Yet it’s the spotted revelations between the cracks of Killzone 3’s February 22nd release date and Borderlands’ level cap increase to – chortle, oh yes – 69 that have been the real quantities here. Games that many of us figured long since eaten through with digital worms emerged from their crypts ready to go, and some just showed up to have a Bloody Good Time.
